La Sardegna è l’isola da cui provengono Gavino e Paola, l’uno dal profondo interno e l’altra dalla costa del sud, parlano due lingue diverse: il nuorese e il campidanese, suonano due repertori diversi: jazz e musica antica.
Il vento tutti i giorni corre lungo l’isola, pulisce e unisce, porta profumi e veicola emozioni.
Il vento è forte, concreto ma al tempo stesso impossibile da rinchiudere: se si fermasse, non sarebbe più vento.
Il programma di questo concerto è come il vento: scorrerà attraverso i tasti sotto le dita di Paola, soffierà dal sax e dalla straordinaria voce di Gavino, si incontrerà in musiche che provengono da luoghi e da epoche distanti, in un tempo non tempo eterno e forte come il Maestrale.

Nuorese . Inizia a suonare a dodici anni il sax alto. Grazie alla ben fornita discoteca del padre ha la possibilità di scoprire e crescere ascoltando il jazz e la musica classica. A quindici anni inizia a suonare con vari gruppi pop e funky e a collaborare con alcune compagnie teatrali in Sardegna, frequenta i seminari di Paolo Fresu a Nuoro e da lì a poco parte a Siena per concorrere a far parte dell’Orchestra Giovanile Italiana di Jazz come primo sax tenore. Questa immersione nel mondo del Jazz gli consente di accrescere la propria esperienza e di conoscere tantissimi musicisti con i quali compie innumerevoli esperienze musicali in formazioni di ognitipo duo, trio, quartetto etc. La Sardegna con le sue profonde radici musicali è costantemente presente nel suo percorso sonoro. Il canto a Tenore nel ruolo di Bassu, praticato già in adolescenza e lo studio tradizionale delle Launeddas, si fondono nel tempo con la musica afroamericana trovando un percorso inedito e originale. Sardinia is the island where Gavino and Paola come from, one from the deep interior and the other from the southern coast, they speak two different languages: Nuorese and Campidanese, they play two different repertoires: jazz and early music. The wind runs through the island every day, cleansing and uniting, bringing scents and conveying emotions. GAVINO MURGIA
He is from Nuoro. He started playing alto sax when he was twelve years old. Thanks to his father’s well‐stocked vinyl record collection he had the chance to discover and grow while listening to jazz and classical music. He started playing with various pop and funk groups and collaborated with some theatrical companies in Sardinia; he attended Paolo Fresu seminars in Nuoro and very soon after he traveled to Siena when he was 19 years old to be part of the Jazz Orchestra Giovanile Italiana as first tenor sax. This immersion in the jazz world gave him the opportunity to increase his experience and to get in touch with many musicians with whom he had countless opportunities to play and to do records in duo, trio and quartet groups. With its deep musical roots, Sardinia was constantly present in his sonorous path. The Canto a Tenores in his Bassu (bass) part he had when he was in his teen years and the traditional study of the Launeddas (pan-pipes), slowly merge with the African‐American music finding an original and authentic path. Along with the Soprano and Tenor sax he also plays the Baritone sax, Flutes and Duduk.
